"Brushed" / "100-120 Grit"

Although polishes can be produced in a range of rougher finishes, the #3 offers a more-course grain and higher Ra. than the other standard finish options.

The polishing process results a "brushed" appearance with Parallel grain. Sometimes referred as a “50 grit" or "80 grit" finish.

"Satin" / "180 Grit"

(32 Ra.)

Highly common finish for a wide range of applications, suitable for architectural or processing vessels. Features refined “tighter-grain” appearance universally acceptable for process equipment systems and tanking wet surfaces.

Meets 3A “Dairy” and “Sanitary” application requirements.

"2B" or "Dairy" / "220-240 Grit"

(20 Ra.)

This finished offers a "2B" mill surface in a polished ultra-fine grain appearance.

Often chosen for minimized surface friction applications, and/or when a more-highly polished finish than a #4, is desired.

"Semi-Mirror" / "320-400 Grit"

(9 Ra)

Very fine, highly reflective appearance with light satin grain. Fine polishing lines can be observed from several feet away.

Applications often include anti-friction engineered purposes, design esthetics, and when the material will be further refined through buffing.

"Ultra-fine Semi-Mirror" / "600 Grit" (3 Ra.)

Highly reflective mirror with ultra-fine directional grain. Often used as an alternative to mirror finishes.

A glossy reflective appearance is gained though the multi-step combination of abrasives and compound directional-buffing.

Non-Directional (Super #8)

A directional #8 mirror finish on stainless steel is one of the most refined and reflective finishes available. This finish is characterized by an extremely smooth, highly reflective surface with no texture and the most minimized appearance of grain. The process of achieving a #8 mirror finish involves several stages of sanding, buffing, and polishing until a mirror-like appearance is achieved.

The non-directional mirror or "Super #8" is entirely free of any signs of linear grain.
